GLOBAL COMPACT AND
COMMUNICATION
ON PROGRESS
The Global Compact is an initiative launched by United Nations
Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 1999 which offers an international
structure capable of helping the private sector to plan and to
manage business from essential human values such as respect to
human rights, to the environment and to ethics in business. Resulting
from an UN effort to deepen and improve cooperation with entrepreneurial
representatives and other civil society organizations, it is stimulating
thousands of enterprises to adopt corporate citizenship as a standard.
All
Global Compact members are committed towards communicating their
progress on the implementation of the 10 principles through their
annual reports and the institution's web site.
